We feel that you, the patient, are the most important member of the health care team.  We encourage you to be fully involved in your care and treatment.  Below are some suggestions to help you become involved:

1. Bring your family members and/or friends with you.  They can be a great source of support and comfort for you.  We can also provide information to them so that they can better assist in your care.
2. Ask Questions.  We encourage you to jot down any questions you may have prior to your visit and bring it with you.  It is not uncommon to become so involved in your visit that you may forget to ask for information that is important to you.  Writing these down prior to your visit may help prevent this.
3. Learn ! Learn ! Learn !  The physicians and staff at HOA Cancer Center will provide you with the most up to date and comprehensive information relating to your particular illness.  We offer a library of educational and supportive materials for your use and we encourage you to visit our Health Links page to put you in touch with other entities that may be able to provide you with additional information.  You will find that the more you learn about your illness, the less fearful and more in control you will feel.
4. We value your input.  Please feel free to send us any comments or (non-medical) questions and we will do our best to provide answers for you.
